Description
We don’t know the location of this slaughterhouse. Local historians have suggested that it could be Bolton’s tannery, but it is possible that it is not even in Bolton. If you can help identify it please leave a comment below.

This was the Abbattoir was right next to the “Cattle Market” pub on Thynne Street ( I believe the pub is still in operation to this day)
Well it was as of August 2012.
When I was just 12 years old I worked in Wilson’s Butchers on Newport Street just 50 yards from my home 6 Byng Street West, cleaning washing, scrubbing and bleaching the wood chopping block and sweeping /mopping the floor and spreading sawdust for the next day.
On Saturday mornings James Wilson the owner of the store had me at his quarters of the Slaughterhouse shown.
Swilling, bleaching and rinsing the blood and slaughter residue, i.e. entrails, waste and stuff.
The slaughter house on Thynne St was next door to the Tannery.
