This plot of land belonged to Magee Marshall and co. And they held their horse shows on it. They had beutiful horses including KING and MAJOr. The horses attracted large crowds
I lived in 46 back derby street till 1954 and sometimes rode on the delivery carts and also the names of the horses The draymen used to roll the barrels along our house to the half wayhouse pub
I lived in a brewery house in parrot st my dad worked there for 25 years
as a young boy ,in 1953/4/5 I lived at no 1 peel st,with my dad.[ the cobbles on the left peel st ]. at that time my dad was a drayman delivering beer to pubs around Bolton. I remember the horses named king,major,also little joe,captain,alex,jolly,albert,also the yard dogs bruce and scamp. “memorys”
