This looks familiar. Have you any other photos of the interior of Holy Trinity Church, Bolton.
This is the only ‘Waterloo’ or ‘Commissioner’s’ Church actually in Bolton. There are two others, in the area, in Horwich and Ringley.
Hi Peter- we never managed to prove the identity of this church as we couldn’t find any photos of the interior to check, and obviously it has closed its doors now. Are you sure it is Holy Trinity? Did you used to go to church there?
I was baptized there but went to Bolton Parish. It was nearer to where we lived! My Mum and Grandma were in the M.U./G.F.S. at Holy Trinity and I used to go occassionally.
The frieze and wooden panels, below the organ loft, looks very familiar, as do the choir and clergy stalls, etc.
Holy Trinity reverted to being a Chapel of Ease to Bolton Parish Church before it closed. There might be some photos there and/or Manchester Diocese.
As I mentioned on the previous photo my partner went to holy trinity and she also thinks this looks very familiar.
I am almost certain that this is Holy Trinity.
In the first picture which shows the pulpit you can just see a column and the bottom of the organ pipes, which can be seen more clearly in this picture.
Refer to this link to confirm whether I am correct:
This is quite definitely the lectern at Holy Trinity Church. Generations of my family were worshipped here form its opening in !825 until it was declared redundant in the early 1990s. I was a member of the choir from 1953, when I was seven until 1970, when I joined the choir at Bolton Parish Church. The organ in the background is where I learnt to play. I remember, as a choirboy, reading the first lesson at several Christmas Carol Services from this lectern.
