Description
Humphrey Spender took a sequence of photographs of children playing on this railway bridge. There is still a bridge at the same location, and it is still covered in graffiti (2012).

Have you any memories, new information or corrections relating to this picture?
This is a photo of which my Mother and sister are in its near to Eagle Street Bolton where they used to live
Dear Carol, would you be able ask your mother about the following?
Dear Iris, it is wonderful to have that identification – that it is you and your sister and brother in the photograph. How much do you remember about the moment Humphrey Spender took the photo? Was there much conversation between you and him? Someone has written ‘Peep’ in chalk on the fence. Can you remember who wrote that and why? Was ‘Peep’ a reference to Spender and his camera or something else? And there are several drawings of a man’s profile on the fence. Are they drawings of Spender? I work for Bolton Museum and am currently researching his photos of children playing so any further recollections would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matthew
