Have you any memories, new information or corrections relating to this picture?
The waitress has a large letter ‘C’ on her cap. Anyway, it looks a bit too posh for the tripe shop.
My Mother was working in the office of Collinson’s in 1938, I understand that there was a cafe, restaurant, bread and/or cake shop, and an outside catering aspect to the business. If I remember right, the business had its headquaters in Yorkshire. I have a T S Collinson centenary spoon, (1835-1935), which also commemorates the king’s silver jubilee. Somewhere I have buried some more docs from her time there; I think there might be a doc with photos. When I can get to the docs I will let you know. I certainly have postcards from the manager to my Mother giving directions for the business when he was on holiday. Is there any museum which would welcome these items.
Thank you for sharing Ira. If the material you mention is related to Bolton then it sounds like it may well fit in with the museum or archives collections policy.
I am researching about Collinsons. My father Paul Buckingham was the tea and coffee taster and blender and a director. The business started in Halifax in 1835 and closed in 1970. There were cafes in Halifax, Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Blackpool, Buxton and the Isle of Man and of course Bolton. I am interested in any info you may have. I have gathered quite a lot of info about the company if you are interested
is it possible to view the returning home video anywhere? thanks
I’m very interested in any info you have about Collinsons. I am researching the business as my father Paul Buckingham worked there all his life. He was the tea and coffee taster and blender and a director. I have found out a lot of info from various places but as yet very little about the Bolton branch!
I would be interested to contact you
My uncle Edgar Bates was a Director of Collinsons in Halifax until the 1960s. He started as an office boy and worked his way up. He retired abt 1960
Edgar Bates was the name of a photographer in Lichfield, his offices were in Bore Street.
