Have you any memories, new information or corrections relating to this picture?
Would this have been the Woolworths on Great Moor Street which later became Gregory & Pollits? I am also looking at which I presume might have been the number of the building above the door. The shop on Deansgate which closed in 2008 was not of this typical Woolworths design
I tend to agree with Ann about Great Moor St. I didnt know it had been a Woolworths ,but as the photo is on the level, and both doors of Deansgate and Bridge st,store were on an incline, it helps to visualize it.I remember Lanzetters jewellers next to it. And then the pub on Bradshawgate.
I don’t think Woolworth’s became Gregory and Porritts. Gregory and Poritts was always on Gt. Moor Street, even before Woolworth’s closed.
But you can see the start of FW Woolworth above the entrance.
Woolworths Bridge St entrance .F.W Woolworths above entrance.
This is Woolworths on Bridge St even got sign over door F.W.Woolworth the street has a incline and is not on level ground,if you look at the height of window cill near entrance door the height enlarges from that point going down Bridge St to bring it level.
