When i look at this photo i can smell the co-op shops. They all had the same smell.{NOT BAD] with their floors covered in sawdust.I can also remember taking the long strip of dividend stamps that my grandma had stuck on a sheet of paper. You got the paper stamp as a receipt.They soon mounted up.
Been in this Co-op shop lots of times with my mum in the fifties and the tripe shop was still there and the news agents.I think the shop called Chadwick’s was Chadburn’s in the fifties and was a cobblers,after the news agents was a passage then Billy Platte’s fruit veg and fish shop.
